This publication is a summary of the Finnish report Antti Rajakorpi & Kaija Salmio 2001: Toteutuuko kestävä kehitys kouluissa ja oppilaitoksissa. Arviointi 3/2001. 344 s. Opetushallitus. Helsinki. The original Finnish publication is about the theme evaluation arranged by the National Board of Education (NBE) during the years 1999–2000 concerning the state of sustainable development in Finnish schools and educational institutions. The publication consists of two parts, Part I: Evaluation, consisting of the results and Part II: The State and the Future, consisting of specialist articles and schools’ own examples describing how sustainable development can be included as part of curricula and their targets. The contents of the original report are included as Appendix 1. This English version is a summary of the Part I, evaluation and its results.
